Yes, the consultation is free and will last around 15 minutes. It’s an opportunity to determine if we’d be a good fit to work together. During this conversation we’ll briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, my approach, and any questions you may have about scheduling, fees, or insurance.
Should we be a good fit, we'll schedule our first appointment and you will be sent the new client forms to complete. If we're not a good fit and at your request, I'd be happy to provide you with referrals to other clinicians with whom you may be a good fit for.

I offer therapy in person in my Elm Grove office. Telehealth services may be available based on a shared decision between you and I about what works best for your care. Access to telehealth services may be influenced by insurance coverage or for those who are using private pay. For all virtual sessions client’s must be located in the state of Wisconsin at the time of their appointment, have a private area to chat, and have a working web camera. At this time I do not offer phone appointments.

Most sessions are 50 minutes long, but session length may vary depending on the type of therapy provided.
-
This depends on your individual needs. Most people start with weekly sessions, but frequency can change as you progress. We’ll decide together what works best for you.
-
I tend to work with clients over a longer period of time, which allows us to move at a pace that feels right for you and to engage in deeper, more meaningful work. This is especially helpful when addressing long-standing patterns, trauma, or relationship dynamics that take time to fully understand and shift.
Throughout our work, we’ll regularly check in on your goals and progress. The length of therapy isn’t fixed—we’ll decide together when it feels right to bring our work to a close.

It’s normal to feel a little nervous before your first appointment! We’ll usually start by reviewing paperwork and informed consent, including confidentiality and policies. Then we’ll go over about what brings you in, your background, and what you hope to get out of therapy. It may feel a bit like an interview, but you can share at your own pace—you’re always in control of what you choose to discuss. You’ll also talk about goals, even if they’re not fully clear yet, and end by discussing next steps like scheduling future sessions. Feeling unsure is completely okay—it’s part of the process.

I get it—life happens! I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions will be charged a fee. This policy is in place to ensure the effective management of scheduled appointments and to respect the time reserved for each client.
-
I require a 24 hour notice to cancel appointments. If you notify me less than 24 hours before the appointment, you are required to pay the full cost of the session.

I am an out-of-network provider, but I’m happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan’s out-of-network benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your specific out-of-network benefits and reimbursement options.

Without insurance restrictions, we can determine the frequency and focus of treatment. Many growth-oriented and preventative topics may not be covered by insurance, but remain an important part of treatment . This approach also provides an added layer of confidentiality, outside of mandated reporting requirements (harm to others or child abuse/neglect), no one else has access to your private information.
