Self-Compassion Therapy in Southeastern WI

It’s Time to Make Room for Kindness

Do you find it easy to offer kindness and understanding to others but struggle to extend that same grace to yourself? Are you quick to reassure a friend after a mistake while criticizing yourself for making one? Do you encourage others to rest while believing you need to keep pushing?

Self-compassion isn't about letting yourself off the hook or ignoring your struggles. It's about learning to treat yourself with the same care, understanding, and humanity you so freely offer to others.

What is Self-Compassion Therapy?

There may be times when your inner critic feels louder than your own voice. Maybe you hold yourself to impossible standards, replay your mistakes, or struggle to offer yourself the same understanding you so freely give to others. You may know that you deserve kindness—but knowing and truly believing can feel impossible in practice.

Self-compassion work helps you move away from self-criticism and minimizing your needs, and toward a kinder, more understanding relationship with yourself.

My Approach is Different

Self-compassion also isn't the same as letting yourself off the hook. A core idea is that you can hold yourself accountable while still treating yourself with dignity and understanding. I believe we all have parts of ourselves that are easy to share and other parts that feel more to understand. I use a softer approach of turning towards all of the parts of you without fear of judgment or shame. We'll explore the parts of you that strive, achieve, please others, protect, or hold onto harsh beliefs about who you're supposed to be. Rather than judging or trying to get rid of these parts, we'll approach them with curiosity and compassion, making space to understand what they may be trying to do for you.

This work isn't about ignoring your struggles or convincing yourself that everything is okay. It's about learning how to meet yourself with greater kindness. Over time, therapy can help you loosen the grip of self-criticism, reconnect with your needs, and develop a more trusting and compassionate relationship with yourself.
